About Us
The ministry of Bethany Baptist Church started on Nov.4, 2007, with a vision to establish a conservative Baptist Church in South Bangalore, which includes areas like BTM Layout, MICO Layout, Jayanagar, J.P Nagar, Bilekahalli, Puttenahalli, Kodichikkanahalli, Begur, Taverekere, Arekere, Gottigere, Marenahalli, Vijaya Bank Colony, Banashankari, Bannerghatta Road, Madiwala, Koramangala, Outer Ring Road, Bommanahalli, Hosur Road, Sarjapura Road, HSR Layout, etc.
This was a joint effort by Pr. Ken & Mrs Mary, and Pr. Simeon & Mrs Vijaya to plant a Baptist Church in the southern part of Bangalore. A handful of people joined them, and thus, the ministry of Bethany began as Divya Christian fellowship on Nov. 4, 2007, with 18 people attending our first service. We desired to provide a Church primarily committed to preaching the whole counsel of God, which then results in life transformation & worship. We began with an insignificant start and then constituted ourselves as an autonomous Baptist Church, naming ourselves as Bethany Baptist Church on August 29, 2010.
Bethany Baptist Church is a registered body under the Indian Trust Act and Income Tax Act. We are also registered under the Income Tax Act as a religious trust.
The Church's various activities are focused on studying the Word and building relationships. We help people pursue relationships with Jesus Christ and with one another. Our Pastor
Pr. Simeon Sundar has served as the Pastor of Bethany Baptist Church since its founding in 2010. Alongside his pastoral ministry, he is the President and a faculty member of the Baptist Seminary of South India, Bangalore (www.bssiindia.org), where he teaches Bible Exegesis, Bible Exposition, and Practical Theology.
Born and raised in a pastor's home, he trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour in his early teens and surrendered his life in obedience to the Lord's call for full-time ministry in 1998. He desires to preach the Word, practise the Word, and lead by example.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), a Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.), a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Philosophy, Religion & Culture, and a Master of Theology (M.Th.) in Systematic Theology, along with specialised certificates in teaching, counselling, and religious studies.
He is married to Vijaya, and they are blessed with two sons, Matthew and Andrew.
